How We Collect Information About You 

• Information you provide directly through correspondence, email, telephone, social media or our website 

• Survey, petition and consultation responses 

• Constituency casework enquiries and supporting documents 

• The Electoral Register where permitted by law 

• As a representative of The Labour Party, I also have access to I also have access to other information which I or my office, or volunteers working with me, may use for campaigning purposes with individuals who have chosen to receive political communications. In respect of that information, the Labour Party is the data controller, and you should consult their privacy policy (https://labour.org.uk/privacy-policy/) for details of what information they hold, why, and how they use and process that information. 

 

What Information We May Collect 

• Name, address, email address and telephone number 

• Constituency and electoral information 

• Correspondence and opinions you provide 

• Casework information and supporting documentation 

• Survey responses and consultation submissions 

• Special category data where necessary for constituency casework 

• Parliamentary, Constituency and Party-Political Activities 

• Information provided for constituency representation and parliamentary activities is processed separately from party-political activities 

• Contacting Mark Ferguson MP or receiving constituency assistance will not automatically place you on a mailing list 

• Political communications are only sent where there is an appropriate lawful basis, including consent where required 

• Information lawfully available through the Labour Party may be used to support engagement with individuals who have chosen to receive political communications 

 

Constituency Casework 

• We process information to investigate and pursue constituent enquiries 

• We may contact government departments, local authorities, public bodies, housing providers, 

• healthcare organisations and regulators on your behalf 

• Relevant information may be shared with third parties involved in resolving your case 

• Lawful basis includes Article 6(1)(e) Public Task, Article 6(1)(f) Legitimate Interests and relevant Article 9 conditions for special category data 

 

Policy Correspondence and Campaigns 

• Responding to views on policy matters 

• Understanding issues affecting constituents 

• Maintaining records of correspondence 

• Conducting surveys and consultations 

 

Mailing Lists and Communications 

• Subscription is strictly opt-in 

• Sign-up may occur via surveys, petitions, consultation forms, events or online forms 

• Communications may include newsletters, parliamentary updates, campaign information, consultations and event invitations 

• You may unsubscribe or withdraw consent at any time 

• Lawful basis: Article 6(1)(a) Consent 

 

Who We May Share Information With 

• Government departments and agencies 

• Local authorities 

• NHS bodies and healthcare providers 

• Housing associations and landlords 

• Regulators and public authorities 

• IT and communications providers

• The Labour Party where there is a lawful basis 

 

Retention 

• Casework records are retained for at least six months after completion 

• Records may be retained for longer where required for ongoing matters, legal obligations or legitimate record-keeping purposes 

• Mailing list records are retained until consent is withdrawn, an unsubscribe request is received or the data is no longer required 

 

International Transfers 

• Where personal data is transferred outside the United Kingdom, appropriate safeguards will be applied in accordance with UK data protection law 

 

Your Rights
